SHAME

Performative sculpture, 2017. Man, water, plastic foil, copper pipe, steel, water pump, wood. Duration: 30 Min.

A man stands thirty minutes under the water flow. The water is pumped in circle trough the copper tube.
For »Shame« the participants are requested to look down and think about things they have done and for which they feel ashamed. They wear their own clothes and take postures given by their own corporal experience.
This performative sculpture was conceived as a ritual of purification. It enables participants to engage in introspection about actions for which they feel ashamed. The continuous flow of water onto the head and face is intended to anchor the body, cleanse it, and enhance the experience of the present moment.
